  9. Kandinsky is Shareware. Please feel free to evaluate Kandinsky for up to 
  10. six weeks. If at the end of this period you can't bring yourself to delete 
  11. Kandinsky you must register.
  12. Kandinsky may be freely distributed by PD/Shareware libraries and BBS's so 
  13. long as all the files listed in 'CONTENTS.TXT' are included in the archive.

  17. constitute the English language version of 'Kandinsky' and are protected 
  18. under international Copyright law. Kandinsky may only be included on

  33. If you register you'll not only be supporting future Kandinsky developments

  46. Brief overview of Kandinsky
  47. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
  48. Kandinsky is a powerful vector drawing program without equal on the Atari 
  49. platform. You'll never be able to make full use of Kandinsky without the 
  50. manual but here's just a few of the features you can explore:
  51.  
  52. o All known GEM standards are supported, including the Clipboard, 
  53.   SpeedoGDOS, MultiTOS and the GEMINI-AV protocol.
  54. o Support for GDOS, Speedo GDOS and other GDOS replacements to handle GEM 
  55.   Metafiles. To save and print you'll need to boot using GDOS and a 
  56.   suitable ASSIGN.SYS which includes a printer driver and META.SYS.
  57. o Compatibility option to save GEM Metafiles without SpeedoGDOS commands 
  58.   to offer backwards compatibility for pre-Speedo applications.
  59. o Supports for VDI devices from No: 11 to 70 with dialogs (optionally) in 
  60.   windows enabling background events, ideal for MultiTOS, Geneva or MagiC 
  61.   users.
  62. o Borland BGI vector font support.
  63. o Undo works for almost all actions.
  64. o Directly reads GEM/3 Artline format files from the PC.
  65. o Objects remain fully editable after creation, e.g. text or arc angles.
  66. o Powerful alignment tools make it easy to position objects relative to 
  67.   each other.
  68. o CSV (comma separated value) support, exchange data with other 
  69.   applications.
  70. o IMG file handling as pseudo objects.
  71. o Drag & drop support, move objects between Kandinsky windows and the

  78. Basic concepts
  79. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
  80. Kandinsky uses a different approach to the usual click & drag standard. 
  81. It's a click-move-click action and offers a significant improvement over 
  82. the traditional method as detailed below.
  83.  
  84. Examples: Select the line drawing tool from the floating toolbox window 
  85. and as you move the mouse over the drawing window the cursor changes to a 
  86. crosshair ready for drawing. Left mouse click once and release to fix the 
  87. start point, move the mouse and left click again to fix the end point.
  88.  
  89. Try out a few other commands until you get the feel of the click, move, 
  90. then click again approach which makes it possible to access the drop down 
  91. menus, scroll bars, edit and grid tools in mid command. For example, you 
  92. could start a line, use the scroll bars to move to a hidden part of the 
  93. drawing, open the line attributes dialog, change the settings and complete 
  94. the command with a final left click.

  96. The right mouse button is also used extensively in Kandinsky. During 
  97. commands it's used to cancel most commands and between commands it's used 
  98. to display the settings dialog for the current command, if provided.

  100. Bold dialog buttons contain Pop-up menus. Left click and release over the 
  101. button to display the menu. Click on an option to select it or away from 
  102. the menu to close it without making a selection.

  111. o Runs on ST(e), Mega ST(e), TT and Falcon
  112. o Supports all resolutions from ST Medium (640x200) and all graphic cards

  141. How to get the latest Kandinsky version

  143. The latest versions of Kandinsky are available for anonymous ftp via the 
  144. Internet on various servers:

  149. If you don't have access to the Internet you can:
  150.  
  151. a) Send me a formatted floppy disk and a stamped envelope or enough money 
  152.    and I'll send you then the next major version of Kandinsky.
  153.    If you send money please remember the amount should at least cover the 
  154.    costs for sending you the disk. If you don't follow this rule, you won't 
  155.    get a disk! I'm sorry about those hard words, just experience, you know!
